OUR STORY
The Ladybug for Girls® Foundation, Inc. is a growing community of parents and their daughters, school teachers, and health professionals who are concerned about the health and well-being of girls in Atlanta. Like many of our parents, our founder was troubled by the soaring obesity rates, the gender gap in physical fitness, and the inadequate resources for the social and emotional well-being of children within the health system.
When it comes to girls health and raising girls with a positive sense of self-worth, we understand parents frustration with finding fun programs and sports resources where girls can unite and thrive. Ladybug for Girls offers every girl a chance to be equipped with the knowledge to choose to live a healthy life, to have the self-confidence to believe her potential is limitless, and to foster healthy friendships through sisterhood.
Since launching in 2008 at the Clarkston Community Center with 12 Liberian refugee girls, through research, policy advocacy, and health education, the Ladybug for Girls Foundation has served thousands of young girls and their families in underserved communities. We have achieved this through our after-school youth development programs, community workshops, and with the installation of learning gardens for schools. Every year since, our Ladybug for Girls ambassadors have blazed a trail to be their healthiest and make the world a better place.
Our one-of-a kind holistic and comprehensive approach to the health of girls across metro Atlanta equips girls to navigate life through unity, self-empowerment, healthy living and advocacy. Today, we are the premier leaders of health-focused programming for young girls within the Atlanta metropolitan area.

"I am so happy to work with Ladybug for Girls in recognition of American Heart Health month. If we can get our children to develop healthier habits, then I won't have to see them struggle to break very bad lifestyle choices down the road."
